C14 — SAP Cloud Infrastructure and Virtualization Strategy
An end to end approach of leveraging SAP solutions in Cloud and Virtual Infrastructures promise significant TCO savings, drastic increase in IT agility and a much more efficient relationship between a solution provider and consumer. In this session we will share and discuss the SAP Strategy in this space and might also share a couple of demonstrations, if time permits. SAP is very interested in feedback, so we are looking for active participation.

V10 — Demo: Building a Virtual Appliance for SAP BusinessObjects Explorer with SUSE Studio
Appliances encapsulate an application's dependencies in a pre-integrated self-contained unit. This can dramatically simplify deployment on-site customer by freeing users from having to worry about resolving potentially complex OS compatibility issues, library dependencies or undesirable interactions with other applications. Late 2009 Novell and SAP did run a proof of concept to investigate the feasibility of SUSE Studio to build a virtual appliance for SAP BusinessObjects Explorer. In this session we will demonstrate in real time how this can be achieved and we will discuss the lessons learned. This demo will be co-presented by Arne Armold, SAP Development Project Manager, NW Appliance Infrastructure and Jeff Uphoff, Senior Software Engineer from Novell's SUSE Studio team.

V03 — Virtualizing SAP at Dow Chemical
Virtualization is quickly changing the way companies deploy enterprise applications, greatly increasing efficiency, SLAs, and agility of the infrastructure. In 2006, Dow started a multiyear Next Enterprise Architecture (NEA) program to replace most of the existing enterprise business applications largely with the SAP. The cosmplexity of the corresponding IT infrastructure required a new platform architecture that heavily leverages the x86 platform and VMware virtualization. Dow Chemical has achieved excellent results, supporting the NEA program with the required application functionality supported by an efficient and agile IT infrastructure. This presentation describes the Dow NEA environment as well as current and future uses of virtualization. This session also explicitly discusses the benefits of virtualization and lessons learned in the course of the NEA program.

V11 — Evolution of Virtualization
In this session, Red Hat will discuss the evolution of open source virtualization, highlighting recent innovations and previewing some of the upcoming technologies. The session will also cover Red Hat's virtualization roadmap including Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, an end-to-end virtualization solution that is designed to enable pervasive datacenter virtualization, and unlock unprecedented capital and operational efficiency.

G02 — Environmental Benefits of IT Efficiency
The digital universe is expanding at an amazing rate and the Information Technology essential to this growth is now consuming resources — people, energy, materials & space — at an unsustainable rate. Significant advances in efficiency such as Cloud Computing and IT consumed as a service create exciting potential to deliver information value while minimizing consumption of human and natural resources. This presentation will examine key trends and provide specific examples that help us move toward more sustainable IT foundations by:

  • Improving operational efficiency while enhancing performance and reducing environmental impacts
  • Making wise investments while setting the stage for future achievement
  • Emphasizing greater agility and flexibility while reducing costs

V16 — Virtual Reality — Operate SAP Systems on Virtual Server Technology
The operation of SAP Solutions on virtual server technology increases the flexibility and optimizes the HW utilization. With the release of virtualization technology from of SAP technology partners for productive SAP systems, a lot of questions around this topic are asked. This presentation gives an overview over the used technologies, the currently supported technologies, the management of virtualization technology and how SAP optimizes the SAP NetWeaver technology to run smoothly in virtual environments.

V09 — SAP on Hyper-V V2
This session gives an update on the latest version of Hyper-V which delivers excellent performance and scalability, live migration and comprehensive management capabilities for virtualized SAP applications. SAP applications are perfect targets for consolidation and landscape optimization because of the number of middleware components and their requirements. As a matter of fact, server virtualization has been used in the majority of all re-platform or new SAP installations on Windows during the last 12 month. But what is the right architecture between native and virtual installations, what can be virtualized with SAP and what is potentially risky? These questions will be answered by this presentation as well as best practice about how customers used the latest version of Hyper-V for SAP from real customer projects will be provided. Additionally, the operational aspects of SAP infrastructures with Hyper-V will also be covered.

C04 — Provisioning SAP Landscapes Flexibly and Securely in the Enterprise Cloud
The Infrastructure-as-a-Service cloud computing model has become widely recognized as a strategically critical component of future enterprise IT environments. First generation clouds, however, offer a relatively simple "virtual private server" model, which while useful for grid computing workloads and web-based front end services, does not map easily onto today’s IT infrastructures. In this session we will dissect the notion of the enterprise class cloud — clouds that offer scale, dependability, service level agreements, and the power to end users to build, deploy, and manage rich IT infrastructures in an automated, dependable fashion on an as-needed basis. However, even the best of enterprise clouds is not an SAP Cloud until it has the capability to rapidly provision complex SAP landscapes in highly secure configurations that vary widely in functional requirements from one customer to the next. Collaboration between SAP and Citrix now enables customers and service providers alike to provide the operational efficiencies of cloud automation with a wide variety of SAP landscape configurations on a rock solid virtual infrastructure, at the lowest ownership cost. In this session we will dissect the concept of the enterprise-class cloud and will introduce how this can be used to deploy environments such as SAP, on demand.

G04 — Reduce Cost and Enable Green IT for SAP Deployments with One Wire Data Access and Storage Virtualization
Cost and Green IT are the biggest drivers for our current economical environment. The latest Network Virtualization allow you to consolidate your Storage Fiber Channel Network into one Ethernet Network with FCOE .One Network Fabric reduce dramatically the cost and simplify SAP Setups. The latest 10 Gig Ethernet Adapters even allow you to run Storage and Data Access Protocols at the same time on one adapter which reduce the number of Network Cards in the Server and add more flexibility. Deployment Examples and Performance Numbers of this One Wire Architecture will be shown in the Session. Beyond the Network Consolidation, Storage Virtualization, and De-duplication Technologies speed up SAP Deployment and Implementation cycles. De-duplication and Thin Provisioning reduce Storage consumption and drive the Data Efficiency which enable a Green IT. The latest technologies and customer examples will be shown in this Session.

V08 — Benefits of Intel’s Nehalem-EX Platform on ERP Virtualization
This presentation showcases the benefits of Intel’s latest generation Nehalem-EX platform for deploying ERP workloads under virtualized environment. Main benefit of virtualization is the ability to provide an agreed upon ERP services to a set of customers with easy manageability and low TCO. As the service demand increases, the host must be able to gracefully scale with increasing number of VMs. Furthermore, any unexpected increase of service demands by one customer should not impact the services of the other customers. Using an industry standard hypervisor, we first show that NEH-EX has a huge performance gain over the previous generation platform. Then we demonstrate how we can easily achieve the aforementioned goals of ERP virtualization using Nehalem-EX platform.
