Virtualization and cloud computing may be the biggest game changers in enterprise IT of the last two decades, perhaps more. They promise enormous benefits for our customers' IT departments and business. To ensure that these benefits are realized, vendors across the technology stack need to work together towards a common set of goals. Success or failure in this can make or break even the largest of today's companies. The benefits and goals we aspire to will be different for existing applications versus applications yet to be developed. For existing applications, it is about reducing TCO and increasing agility. Looking into the future, it is about building new types of applications in new ways. In this presentation, we look at what needs to happen for our customers to reap the promised benefits today and tomorrow — And what steps we have already taken on the road ahead.

From a customer perspective the business is demanding lower TCO, Increased Application Performance, zero downtime from their IT departments. They see advertisements and form opinions. Unfortunately those advertisements often neglect either the Capital or Human investment to make this a reality. We have found that the key to successfully implementing Virtualization and Cloud Computing is to develop clear plans and Objectives on how to proceed and to execute those plans with our Technology partners. Over the past few years we have implemented a highly virtualized environment, Server, Storage, Network, and People which has been key for us improving our overall TCO and Delivery to the Business. getting the fundamental correct is key to moving forward and I will review the basic building blocks that we have in place to support our journey forward.
