- SAP: Apotheker Announces Standard User Interface (InformationWeek, Germany – October 16, 2008)
At TechEd 2008 Berlin, SAP co-CEO Léo Apotheker announced that SAP products would get a unified and more easily accessible user interface for all devices, including PCs, BlackBerrys and all other devices that are able to run SAP. The roll out process and updates will also become more user-friendly with Enhancement Packs providing updates twice per year. Read the full story (German language)

- SAP Reinforces Business Intelligence Roadmap (ZDNet Germany – October 15, 2008) AP used the TechEd 2008 in Berlin, Germany, to give further details on the integration of Business Objects' products into the SAP product portfolio. Two projects labeled "Pioneer" and "Newton" will help merge the two product lines into one by 2010. Read the full story in German
- SAP Launches Online Exchange for ISV Partner Solutions (ChannelWeb – October 14, 2008)
SAP has launched an online marketplace offering software from ISV and solution partners that complements and extends SAP's applications, the company announced Tuesday. SAP unveiled SAP EcoHub at the company's SAP TechEd 2008 conference in Berlin this week. Customers can search SAP EcoHub by industry or solution or by using key words, according to the vendor. - Cisco, SAP Launch Joint Cross-Layer Composite Application (InfoWorld – October 14, 2008)
In an atmosphere where government fines for breaches in privacy regulations are increasing, SAP and Cisco unveiled the Data Privacy Composite Application by SAP and Cisco at the SAP TechEd conference in Berlin. The application supports compliance with a company's data privacy policies as well as any external requirements from government agencies. If, for example, an admitting nurse in a hospital attempts to send an e-mail to friends that a celebrity is checking in to the hospital, the SAP-Cisco application would quarantine that e-mail and thus prevent it from being sent. SAP is working with third-party suppliers and its customers to tackle poor trading conditions in the face of economic downturn. This was the focus of the opening session of SAP TechEd 2008 taking place in Berlin. - SAP Rejects Forrester Charges of Customer Discontent (ComputerWeekly – October 14, 2008)
SAP co-CEO Leo Apetheker has rejected claims made by analyst group Forester that there is widespread discontent from SAP customers over higher support costs. SAP announced in July that all customers on basic support would be moved to more expensive enterprise support, which costs 22% of the license fee compared with 17% for basic support.
